Are You Tired and Worn Out?

Author: Jeff Prince

Matthew 11:28-30 The Message

28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

I haven’t written in a while. My heart has been heavy and words don’t seem adequate. I ask for your grace on this one.

I know that many of us are tired and worn out. If you are brave enough to watch the news that will make you tired and worn out. The death in Israel, Gaza, Ukraine and in our local communities is heartbreaking.

I’m safe and yet, I feel for my brothers and sisters struggling with such grief. Yes, what happens to you matters to me and to us. The blame, the hate and revenge only leads to more blame, hate and revenge. I know all of this is so very complicated. Yet, I still hope and pray for peace.

As I was writing this my Jewish friend called me. He was concerned about me. That conversation is private, but he gave me permission to share this. “I’ve been broken said the light and turned into a rainbow.”

We have been broken, tired and worn out. Yet, perhaps a rainbow is in our future.
